CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Ronald Fleming, 30, accused of killing his grandmother, was declared incompetent to stand trial for the second time during a hearing on July 17 because his mental condition prevents him from understanding court proceedings—according to Judge J. Cedric Simpson. MLive
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Dexter Community Schools will hold roughly 80-minute second-round interviews with two finalist superintendent candidates on July 21 — board members will select the final candidate the following day. The finalists, a local school principal and a district director, emerged from earlier internal interviews as the district prepares for Superintendent Chris Timmis' retirement in 2026. MLive
- ➤ The Lincoln School Board interviewed six candidates on July 15th and 16th and three finalists—school administrators from Southeast Michigan—are set for second-round interviews next week to replace outgoing Superintendent Bob Jansen. MLive

- ➤ Michigan's Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy is seeking public input on Enbridge's permit requests to build a tunnel that will replace the aging Line 5 pipelines across the Straits of Mackinac.
