Officials announced a $5.6 million Head Start grant has been renewed to support 441 children in local preschool programs next year—this renewal comes after concerns over potential federal cuts.

The Ypsilanti City Council will hold a meeting in person and online at Council Chambers, City Hall on July 1st at 7:00 p.m. Members of the public may comment via Zoom - persons with disabilities needing accommodations must contact the City Clerk by 5:00 p.m. the day before.

On Friday, the Michigan Board of State Canvassers approved summary language that lets petitioners gather signatures for a ballot proposal to use Ranked Choice Voting in future elections.

If enough signatures are collected, the proposal will appear on the 2026 midterms—potentially changing Michigan’s voting process.
