- ➤ Washtenaw County officials along with local nonprofits and colleges are providing food assistance to SNAP beneficiaries amid federal uncertainty—emergency distributions at Briarwood Mall, farmers market initiatives and college pantries are set to supply needed nutrition. - ➤ The University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business announced an AI concentration for MBA students that will give them essential AI skills—this follows plans to build a high performance computing facility for AI research and national security—while some local residents in Ypsilanti Township expressed concern over possible impacts on water and electricity. Officials said they will review the environmental effects as the project moves forward. MLive
- ➤ Voters approved the 1 mill tax measure on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2024 with roughly 54% overall support to fund career training programs in Ann Arbor-area schools. Some areas outside Washtenaw County opposed the measure — a home with a taxable value of $200,000 will face an approximate $200 annual increase. MLive
