GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Ypsilanti Finance Committee will hold an in-person/virtual hybrid special meeting on October 8th at 6:30 PM at City Hall’s Council Chambers—members can join online and make public comments. The meeting will approve the 2025 Schedule, elect officers, approve previous minutes, and consider a Budget Stabilization Fund Ordinance.  City of Ypsilanti
  • The Ypsilanti Election Commission will hold a special meeting on October 10 at 10:00 a.m. at City Council Chambers at One South Huron and via Zoom to approve the October 9 meeting minutes and election boards for the November 4 Special Election—members of the public may comment during the designated time.  City of Ypsilanti
  • City of Ypsilanti is scheduled to conduct a Public Accuracy Test on October 13 at 2:00 p.m. at City Hall – One South Huron Street – to test the optical scan voting tabulators and accessible voting devices for the November 4 Special Election.  City of Ypsilanti
  • City of Ypsilanti property owners are informed that new snow and ice abatement procedures will take effect on October 13, requiring snow to be cleared from sidewalks and parking lots within 24 hours of one inch accumulation (failures lead to fines and contractor abatement at the owner’s cost) and applying through May 31. The ordinance mandates a five-foot cleared path on sidewalks to ensure compliance.  City of Ypsilanti
  • Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed a one-week continuation budget on October 1 to keep the state government open while lawmakers work on the full budget—state agencies continue working to support roads, schools, and health care.  FOX 2
