  • The Arreola family said their planned La Michoacana Ice Cream parlor at 418 W. Michigan Ave. was delayed after a vehicle crashed through three walls and caught fire on Sept. 21 — the driver fled and was arrested — and they expect repairs to allow the business to open before year's end.  MLive

CULTURE NEWS

  • On Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, Zach Bryan and John Mayer performed at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor where over 112,000 tickets were sold in less than 2.5 hours—setting a new U.S. record for ticketed concerts. The seven-hour show featured several acts and ended with a brief fireworks display just before midnight.  MLive

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Whitmer led a candidate training event at Eagle Crest Resort in Ypsilanti on Sept. 26—she advised more than 100 future candidates on managing political stress as part of her Fight Like Hell PAC.  MLive
  • Michigan Open Carry, Inc. alleged the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office broke the FOIA by not releasing its preapplication form and instead provided a redacted copy as part of an out-of-court settlement + the sheriff’s office has now stopped using the form in favor of the required Michigan State Police form.  MLive
