GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A Dallas-based firm and local landowners filed a lawsuit against Saline Township after the board rejected rezoning for a 575 acre site meant for an AI and computing data center. The suit claims that the township rules unfairly block data center growth in the rural community. MLive
- ➤ Ypsilanti City Council will hold a public hearing on October 21 at 7:00 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall to review a request to rezone the property at 487 Owendale from Single-Family Residential to Neighborhood Corridor. The proposal seeks to expand the parking lot to support a gas station and auto repair shop and add EV charging spaces—written comments are due by 4:00 p.m. on October 20 following a Planning Commission recommendation to deny the plan. - ➤ Gov. Whitmer did not rule out a free meals package for Michigan students even after a state budget deal left out universal breakfast and lunch. Lawmakers will continue negotiating free school meals for the next fiscal year starting Oct. 1 — the program stays a key issue. MLive
