- ➤ Yuengling beer arrived in Michigan stores a week early, letting drinkers try four types including Traditional Lager, Light Lager, Black & Tan and Flight. O&W said nearly 40,000 cases were pre-purchased and the beer is now in Detroit, Ann Arbor and East Lansing with plans to expand by next summer. FOX 2
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A shooting occurred on I-94 in Van Buren Township on Monday when a woman driving in the center lane said an unknown man in a black vehicle pointed a gun at her and fired, but no one was injured and the road has since reopened as state police continue investigating. FOX 2
- ➤ Rodrigo Osorio, 31, was detained by ICE on Sept 4 after dropping his son at Lakewood Elementary and spent eight hours in custody before being released later that day, leaving his 8-year-old traumatized and raising fears in the local community—Osorio said he was pressured to sign documents while in custody. - ➤ The University of Michigan raised $886 million in donations from October 2024 to September 2025, which is the second-highest total in its history and a 13% increase from last year. Some of the funds will support Michigan Medicine expansion + research and care projects as the Look to Michigan campaign continues. MLive

- ➤ The City of Ypsilanti is delivering new 96-gallon trash bins to households on city trash service and residents can begin using them immediately—but starting September 29th only these bins will be accepted for collection. Households with Friday service will shift to a Thursday schedule—and bulk items must be scheduled with Stevens Disposal. City of Ypsilanti

- ➤ A graduate student at Eastern Michigan University named Max Morefield has created an app called KISS to help users share sexual health information and get STI testing reminders. The app is built on a HIPAA-compliant platform and is designed to remove stigma by anonymously alerting users of potential infections—aimed at changing how sexually transmitted infections are viewed. - ➤ Experience Jackson is hosting the Irish Hills Gravel bike race on October 18 with routes of 31 and 62 miles on rural roads starting and ending at the NASCAR Fan Zone at Michigan International Speedway — packet pickup begins at 3 p.m. the day before and race day starts at 8 a.m. with an awards ceremony at noon.
