CRIME NEWS

  • Over the weekend, police said a man waiting for gas on I-94 in Ypsilanti Township died after being struck by a driver who fell asleep—allegedly while impaired, and the driver sustained minor injuries.  FOX 2
  • Monroe County deputies arrested a 37-year-old woman after they responded at noon Aug. 5 to reports that she was yelling threats and waving a semi-automatic pistol in the parking lot at Greenwycke Crossings Apartments—this marks the second gun-related incident at the complex this week.  FOX 2
  • Shuvonne Laverne Vinson, accused of fatally shooting two members of a foster family earlier this year, was removed from her preliminary examination at 1:30 p.m. on July 22 in Pittsfield TWP after two outbursts.  MLive
  • A Ypsilanti man named Jacob Nathaniel Len, 30, is accused of flipping off Border Patrol agents and brake-checking a transport van carrying 15 detainees on I-96 on August 5—he later appeared in court and was released on bond with a preliminary hearing set for August 25.  FOX 2
