- ➤ The Ypsilanti Police Department, working with the Police Advisory Commission, surveyed local residents from April 1 to July 1, 2025 and found that 80% strongly agreed their issues were resolved and 90% agreed officers were courteous—75% left positive comments—and another survey is planned soon. City of Ypsilanti
- ➤ Washtenaw County Sheriff Alyshia Dyer gave a mid-year update on Aug. 1 and noted that crime had dropped while her team stayed focused on the social work values of her campaign. She began her term in January and said she has been working nonstop during the busy summer—addressing key priorities in law enforcement. MLive

- ➤ Darana Dragway is the new name for the Milan track—owned by Darryl Cuttell of IHRA and Darana Motorsports, who acquired the 61-year-old venue near Milan and promises new events and investments. The track hosted the IHRA Outlaw Nitro Series in July and already saw upgrades to its smooth track and repaired pits—more improvements to stands and concessions are planned. MLive
- ➤ The Detroit Tigers started August with a series opener against the Phillies yesterday at Citizens Bank Park at 6:45 p.m. The team introduced fresh bench players including Jake Rogers, Colt Keith, Zach McKinstry, and Kerry Carpenter — right-hander Jack Flaherty pitched to face Phillies lefty Ranger Suárez.
