- ➤ A 41-year-old man was shot and killed around 10:36 p.m. on July 23rd in the 1300 block of Russell Street in Ypsilanti Township—where police said a second man was critically injured as they investigated whether the man was a victim or suspect in an attempted armed robbery. MLive

- ➤ Today, the 26th Michigan Brewers Guild Summer Beer Festival at Riverside Park in Ypsilanti offers beer samples, food and live music from 5 to 9 p.m. with Jimmy Olson and will have more music from Supercrunch and Keller & The Keels on Saturday from 3 to 10 p.m. The weekend also includes the German Park Picnic at German Park with German food and dance, the Sounds & Sights Festival in Chelsea with a car show and market, and the Ann Arbor District Library’s Summer Game Spectacular at Veteran’s Memorial Park with games and fun activities — events that show a rich local culture — drawing visitors to the region.
