  • Two high-performance computing data centers—a $1.2 billion campus proposed for Ypsilanti Township by the University of Michigan and Los Alamos National Laboratory and an 800-acre facility planned for Augusta Township—are facing growing opposition from local residents who worry about environmental and community impacts.  MLive

CULTURE NEWS

  • On June 24, Paul Schwimmer examined gravestone fragments in Popkin Cemetery in Scio Township near Ann Arbor after ground-penetrating radar detected buried remains—18 individuals, including early settlers and a Revolutionary War soldier, have been confirmed with more likely still underground.  MLive

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Ten road closures will affect traffic on major highways in Michigan this week (including I-94 in Washtenaw and Jackson counties, I-75 in Oakland County, I-69 in Eaton County, M-22, and M-46) as part of over 55 projects running from June 29 to July 5. MDOT advises drivers to slow down and follow posted signs during these lane closures and work zones.  MLive
