CRIME NEWS

  • State police and detectives investigated four homes struck by gunfire between 10 and 11 p.m. Tuesday on the 9000-12000 block of Tuttle Hill in Washtenaw County, with no injuries reported and no suspects in custody.  FOX 2
  • John Fulton waived his examination on May 29—facing charges for armed robbery, assault with a dangerous weapon, and carrying a concealed weapon—as he prepares to stand trial for his role in the robbery at a Saline Subway restaurant.  MLive
  • Prosecutors and defense attorneys are negotiating a plea deal that postponed the preliminary examination to Aug. 18 for UM doctoral student Yunqing Jian, accused of smuggling a fungus that harms cereal crops—her boyfriend admitted to bringing the pathogen into the country at Detroit Metropolitan Airport on July 27.  MLive

  • City officials approved hiring a local contractor to clean up the former Detroit United Railway storage yard near downtown Ypsilanti where PCBs and lead have stalled redevelopment—cleanup is set to begin this summer.  MLive
