COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Trinity Health will lease part of its Ann Arbor hospital campus to nonprofit Interfaith Hospitality Network at Alpha House — a $1-per-year deal providing 30 rooms as temporary emergency shelter for families near Ypsilanti.  MLive
  • For 20 years, Friends of the Scio Township Barn restored a 1930s barn near Ann Arbor, but they are now clearing out stored items as Scio Township officials plan to replace the roof—possibly selling the building—and require the group to vacate by the end of June.  MLive

CRIME NEWS

  • Michigan lawmakers including Congresswoman Debbie Dingell and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson were named on an alleged hit list by a man charged with shooting Minnesota officials and their spouses; security was tightened at Dingell’s Dexter town hall meeting and in Lansing + both officials said their commitment to serve remains firm despite the threat.  FOX 2

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Ypsilanti was awarded $143,703 from Michigan’s Department of Natural Resources to improve its urban forestry system. City officials said the funds will help add a work-tracking system — using an online inventory and GIS — to better manage public trees and support training for staff and homeowners.  City of Ypsilanti
