CRIME NEWS

  • Yunqing Jian — a University of Michigan researcher accused of smuggling crop destroying fungus into the U.S. — appeared in federal court in Detroit on June 5 and had her detention hearing postponed to June 13 so that she will be able to hire a private attorney while she remains in custody.  FOX 2

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Ypsilanti is replacing its outdated bus terminal with a new transit center that will triple its size and offer better amenities for passengers and drivers. TheRide plans to start construction in 2026 and open the center by 2028 — designs are being refined using input from residents and city officials.  MLive

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Dorsey Estates has opened sales for 23 market rate homes near Depot Town at 220 N. Park Street—offering cottages, duplexes and townhomes that start at $210,000—and includes down payment assistance for qualifying buyers. Interested buyers will attend a Keys to the Owner Lottery Event on June 11 at City Hall after reviewing sales materials and getting mortgage preapproval.  City of Ypsilanti
