ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A family of five was displaced when a home caught fire at around 6 p.m. June 2 on the 7000 block of Hogan Drive in Ypsilanti Township—firefighters controlled the blaze in 20 minutes, reporting no injuries while estimating damages at about $175,000. MLive
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Authorities surrounded a Northfield Township home after a 36-year-old man allegedly forced a woman into a vehicle and barricaded himself inside—she was released and taken to the hospital while negotiators maintained that there was no public threat. FOX 2
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Ypsilanti Historic District Commission will hold a hybrid meeting on Tuesday, June 10 at 7 p.m. at City Hall — City Council Chambers — where the public can join in person or online to offer comments. City of Ypsilanti
- ➤ The railroad crossing at Cross Street and River Street will be closed from June 9th through June 13th due to maintenance by MDOT Rail—drivers must follow detour routes provided for eastbound, westbound, northbound, and southbound traffic as marked by signage. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services released its 2025 guidelines for safely eating fish caught in the Great Lakes based on chemical levels like mercury, PFAS & PCBs found in many species. The guide warns against eating carp from Saginaw Bay and limits walleye to six fish per year depending on the catch location. FOX 2
