- ➤ Residents in at least seven units at Sycamore Meadows near Ypsilanti were moved to hotels after sewage backups disrupted living conditions earlier this month. Superior Township Supervisor Emily Dabish Yahkind said HUD inspected the income-restricted complex on Tuesday & expects to meet on Wednesday as officials prepare legal action. MLive
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Native ruby-throated hummingbirds return as feeders support the birds when flowers are scarce; the National Audubon Society recommends making a simple syrup (¼ cup sugar, 1 cup water boiled then cooled). Feeders should be cleaned regularly (twice weekly in cool weather and every other day when warm) to avoid mold. MLive

- ➤ Yesterday, local high school teams had standout plays at the baseball district openers as Skyline upset Pioneer with Cooper Onsted striking out 15 batters while Saline won 15-0 over Ypsilanti Lincoln—both advance to Saturday’s 10 a.m. semifinals with Skyline facing Ypsilanti and Saline playing Temperance Bedford. - ➤ Former Michigan receiver Nico Collins signed a revised contract with the Houston Texans that adds $17 million over the next two seasons & fully guarantees his salary. His base pay of $29 million this season and $29.2 million next makes him one of the NFL's top 10 receivers. MLive
- ➤ Tuesday, May 26 saw strong pitching give Dexter a 14-1 win over Ann Arbor Huron with standout play by Clara Lamb, while Chelsea defeated Fowlerville 4-1; both teams will face semifinals on Saturday with Dexter playing Saline at 10 a.m. and Chelsea meeting Canton Prep. MLive
