- ➤ Federal agents arrested a 32-year-old Honduran man on May 1 near the 14A-2 District Court and a 38-year-old Guatemalan man on April 2 near the 14B District Court for unlawful reentry into the U.S.—both remain in custody on federal charges pending hearings in May and June. MLive
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Overnight storms knocked out power for nearly 1,000 people in Washtenaw County on May 16, with over 600 affected on the southwest side of Ann Arbor and some outages near Saline. DTE Energy reported power was restored by 7:45 p.m. Friday—numbers quickly dropped by morning. MLive

- ➤ The Ypsilanti Planning Commission will hold a hybrid meeting on May 21 at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall—attendees can join in person or via Zoom, and those needing disability accommodations should contact the City Clerk by 5 p.m. on May 20. City of Ypsilanti
- ➤ Ypsilanti named interim police chief Tim Anderson full-time chief on May 15 after former chief Kirk Moore retired in January after two years on the job—Anderson earned a doctorate in criminal justice and got a 100% vote from his union and will work with city leaders to improve the police department.
