- ➤ Eastern Michigan University’s radio station WEMU 89.1 in Ypsilanti was ranked as the top non-commercial jazz station nationally based on Nielsen Audio’s Spring and Fall 2025 ratings — it achieved a 4.0 market share in the Ann Arbor market after moving to new studios in Halle Library. MLive
- ➤ Brevity Shakespeare will present a production of Much Ado About Nothing from May 22 to May 31 at the Ypsilanti Performance Space on N. Adams St. that features additional text by Erin Shields and stars Efe Osagie as Beatrice and Cameron Graham as Benedick, directed by Lydia Carey. MLive

- ➤ In a Tuesday election, voters supported school bond proposals for Grass Lake Community Schools and the Columbia School District that affect local taxpayers in Washtenaw County (including areas near Stockbridge, Sharon, and Manchester Townships). The measures will fund school facility improvements and technology upgrades without raising taxes for 2026. MLive

- ➤ UM professor Dr. Nisha D’Silva assumed leadership of the American Association for Dental, Oral and Craniofacial Research for the 2026-27 term after beginning her presidency at San Diego’s 55th annual meeting, and she urged researchers to unite on advocacy for evidence-based progress. MLive

- ➤ Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti will add women’s flag football as a varsity sport in spring—making it the first Mid-American Conference and Michigan school to do so—and will soon begin its national search for a head coach and build a team roster. MLive
- ➤ The Lions will face the easiest NFL schedule for 2026 (Sharp Football Analysis used Vegas win totals instead of last year’s winning percentages) after missing the postseason in 2025, and they will play nine teams with records below .500. MLive
- ➤ Ann Arbor area sports fans can vote for the top spring underclassman athlete from a list of 25 candidates until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, May 10 — the winner will be announced soon after the poll closes. MLive
- ➤ Ann Arbor-area teams triumphed on Monday with dominant wins in softball, baseball, tennis, and golf, as Saline’s Hornets hammered Pioneer 17-0 and other teams swept doubleheaders at local venues. Strong individual efforts from players like Elizabeth Onyskin and Clara Lamb drove remarkable victories. MLive
