- ➤ On April 30, Michigan gas prices surged with some stations charging nearly $5 a gallon, leaving residents in the Ann Arbor area and Ypsilanti facing higher fill-up costs and prompting some to explore electric bikes for work commutes. MLive
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ EMU will honor over 2,000 graduates in two commencement ceremonies tomorrow at the George Gervin GameAbove Center in Ypsilanti + the morning ceremony starts at 9:30 a.m. for business, engineering, and health students while the afternoon session begins at 1:30 p.m. for arts and education candidates. - ➤ City officials are debating plans for the 38-acre Water Street site, where residents differ on building a homeless shelter + high-rise housing. An ad hoc committee will meet three more times before August, and a developer is expected to be chosen by next fall. MLive

- ➤ BCAM released its Division 1 boys basketball all‐state team for 2026, naming 63 players plus 20 first‐teamers after the 2025-26 season ended last week. Local Ypsilanti Lincoln standout Kobe Drake was honored among those selected. MLive
