CRIME NEWS

  • Dilanjan Miller, former president of USW Local 2513, pleaded guilty to bank fraud and was sentenced to six months in federal prison—he embezzled union funds and must pay nearly $58,000 in restitution.  FOX 2
  • Donna Marie Johnson died almost immediately when her husband, Luke Junior Edwards, allegedly stabbed her nine times—seven of which were potentially fatal—and also inflicted two superficial stab wounds and two gunshot wounds; her body was found in a Ypsilanti Township home and his trial continues throughout the week.  MLive
  • At the Washtenaw Community Violence Intervention Summit, four mothers—Theresa Davis, Stacey Mack, Patricia Hollie, and Genniece Smith—shared their grief over losing their sons to gun violence and called for more community support and funding for long-term grief care and youth programs.  MLive

  • Washtenaw County has hired a Washington — D.C. law firm to help respond to a federal immigration enforcement subpoena that demanded details on its county-issued photo ID program. County officials said they will comply with federal I-9 inspection requirements and are evaluating legal options regarding the DHS request.  MLive
