- ➤ Genesee County sheriff Chris Swanson filed 26,752 petition signatures in Lansing on Friday, April 17, to qualify for the governor's ballot. He said the move shows working-class support from all 83 counties. MLive

- ➤ Analysts on a local podcast say the Lions may surprise fans in the NFL draft by picking Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq, as the team focuses on the best player available + bolstering its offensive line. MLive
- ➤ Cade Cunningham, who missed 11 games due to a collapsed lung, had his NBA eligibility appeal accepted, making him eligible for All-NBA honors later this season; Pistons coach J.B. Bickerstaff said the decision supports players affected by unexpected injuries (including Cunningham's) as the team heads into the playoffs. MLive
