- ➤ Late Wednesday, a neighbor alerted a man at his home on the 700 block of Calder Avenue in Ypsilanti Township that a fire had broken out in the attic and he escaped with his dog — firefighters controlled the blaze in about 15 minutes after it caused roughly $90,000 in damage and displaced two residents with the Red Cross providing help. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On April 17, University of Michigan faculty held a special meeting at the Alexander G. Ruthven Building (in Ann Arbor) to demand that the school bring back its DEI programs and protect immigrant students after some had their visas taken away. Nearly 150 faculty and about 1,000 online participants discussed four motions, and voting will run until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 20 (to decide on the next steps). MLive
