  • Gamers Outreach held its three-day Gamers for Giving LAN Party from April 10 to April 12 at Eastern Michigan University, raising over $1.8 million to fund portable game kiosks and toy vending machines for hospitalized children. The event attracted hundreds of gamers and streamers in the local community.  MLive

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Residents have launched a petition asking officials to rethink a $1.25B high-performance computing facility planned for Ypsilanti Township. They worry the project may hurt the local environment and community + that clear communication about the plans is lacking.  MLive

SPORTS NEWS

  • Michigan football players have welcomed a new practice schedule that shortens sessions to 2 or 2.5 hours to help them stay fresh and focused — the team is set to preview the efficient approach in a spring game on Saturday at 2 p.m. on the Big Ten Network.  MLive
  • Michigan basketball coach Dusty May said that starting players Aday Mara and Morez Johnson Jr. are weighing their NBA draft options and must notify the NCAA by May 28 as Michigan finalizes its roster after winning on April 11.
