- ➤ A mobile home fire yesterday in Van Buren Township forced Rawsonville Elementary employee Jessica Kaba and her 13-year-old son Eddie to evacuate with only the clothes they were wearing; they escaped unharmed but lost all essentials. FOX 2
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Forbes named the University of Michigan a New Ivy on Wednesday, April 8, for its efforts in AI education (the ranking acknowledges a new MBA concentration, selective admissions, and high survey ratings from hiring executives). MLive
- ➤ Avery Cloutier, a 19-year-old from Lowell, will earn his master of applied data science from University of Michigan this spring — he started earning college credits at age 12 through CLEP and studied at six institutions, and he plans to join the U.S. Navy as an intelligence officer after graduation. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Michigan celebrations continued on Saturday as the Wolverines held a national championship parade in Ann Arbor with a festive event at Crisler Center. Coach Dusty May signed a new contract for the team, setting the stage for continued success. MLive
