EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Last week, the University of Michigan closed its Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, its Office for Health Equity and Inclusion and ended its DEI 2.0 Strategic Plan. State lawmakers including Rep. Amos O’Neal and Senator Sarah Anthony condemned the move—saying it will hurt underrepresented students and waste taxpayer funds. MLive

- ➤ The Ypsilanti Historic District Commission will hold its regular hybrid meeting on Tuesday, April 8, at 7 p.m. at City Hall (1 South Huron St) where the public can join in person or virtually to offer comments. City of Ypsilanti
- ➤ Residents in Saline Township raised concerns at a planning commission meeting on April 1 about Jupiter Power's proposal to build a utility-scale lithium battery facility on agricultural land — they asked questions about the project’s impact. Township officials will review the proposal before making a final decision. MLive
