- ➤ Eastern Michigan will host its annual Gamers for Giving LAN Party on Apr. 10-12 at the George Gervin GameAbove Center in Ypsilanti. The sold-out event will raise funds for portable game kiosks and Save Points that support hospitalized children. MLive

- ➤ Kent Syverud, the former Syracuse chancellor, will become the new University of Michigan president on May 11 — he will replace interim president Domenico Grasso, whose term ends May 8, while Provost Laurie McCauley will serve as acting president on May 9 and 10. MLive
- ➤ Eastern Michigan University offers a career closet that provides free, donated suits to help students dress professionally for interviews and events (Raiden Francisco used the closet recently to prepare for a tournament in Nashville). - ➤ Ruby-throated hummingbirds are migrating north from Central America—recent sightings in central Indiana suggest they will reach Michigan by mid-April as part of their spring journey. MLive

- ➤ Attorney General Dana Nessel and state Rep. Jennifer Conlin hosted a town hall on March 30 at Cleary University in Howell to discuss measures for hyperscale data centers, urging developers to fully cover energy infrastructure costs to prevent rate hikes for customers.
