  • Washtenaw County Judge Patrick Conlin denied a motion by 30-year-old Gary Demonn Chambers for a new trial after a jury convicted him of second-degree murder for fatally shooting his friend at a home in the 1700 block of Smith Street in Ypsilanti Township—his self-defense claim lacked the expert backing needed.  MLive

  • The westbound Grand River ramp to I-96 in Brighton will close at 6 a.m. Saturday, March 15—drivers must follow a detour on eastbound I-96 and Spencer Road until the ramp reopens at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 6.  MLive
