About this event

Chelsea House Orchestra (CHO) will bring its signature “Celtic with a Kick” sound home to Chelsea High School on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. for its annual Hometown Show.

The performance will feature traditional Scottish and Irish tunes, Celtic interpretations of American folk songs, and music influenced by a variety of cultural traditions. The ensemble has performed at festivals, fairs, and special events throughout the Midwest and beyond for 30 years.

The Hometown Show will also feature performances by two local groups. Beach Middle School’s Fiddle Club, led by Nathan Peters, will perform several tunes with assistance from high school cadet teachers Tim Guthrie, Carter Hackett, and Willow Walther.

The North Creek Fiddlers, which began by performing for North Creek Elementary students in 2005, will also take the stage. The group has had an evolving lineup over the years, with Wesley Fritzemeier and Eric Robinson performing with the group for more than 15 years. Former CHO members Peter Mourad, Aiden Carry, and Tom Kennings are also part of the group.

The Hometown Show marks CHO’s return to its local stage following a busy spring and summer of performances. In June, CHO celebrated its 30th anniversary with a 10-day tour that included eight performances across Michigan, including stops in Jackson, Chelsea’s Sounds and Sights, St. Joseph, Holland, Traverse City, Grand Valley, Northport, and Petoskey. The group also performed at the Alma Highland Festival in May and the Edinboro Highland Games and Scottish Festival at PennWest Edinboro University in Pennsylvania in September.

Proceeds from ticket sales and donations support CHO’s equipment, travel, workshops, recording sessions, and other educational opportunities for students.

Tickets are available in advance online here and at the door beginning at 6:30 p.m. the night of the show.
